We sadly had to part from the stay at Pinheiro, and the lovely Alfie and Tilly, but the trip home was only forty minutes or so. We arrived home to an empty house however, as our besties were staying in Spain with some other friends. It felt quite strange coming back to an empty houseContinue reading “House sitting at home?”

Final week at Tomar
In the last post, we said we might find a waterfall with Alfie. well, we found one and yes we paid a visit to a fantastic POI (point of interest), but more about that in a moment. The weather was definitely turning a corner in Portugal, at least where we were house-sitting near Tomar. HavingContinue reading “Final week at Tomar”
House-sit near Tomar
There has been no progress on the build project since our last post. We are still waiting to hear if some work will be carried out, but nothing as yet, apart from the electricity connection. We are not too far from the build site however, and would be back in a fortnight to get aContinue reading “House-sit near Tomar”
House project progress
Shortly after we arrived back after our previous house-sit, we were to pick up the paperwork from the architect and head over to Leiria to the e-rede company site to get the electricity contract sorted. So with a relaxing weekend over we were refreshed and headed over to the office to pick up the papers.Continue reading “House project progress”
Back home. Well, for a while…
Just a short one this week. No piccies or video as we have been zooming around and busy. In the last blog I mentioned a funny adventure at the George & Dragon pub near Coja. It was more like a mis-adventure actually. We looked up the opening times on Google and arrived promptly at 5pmContinue reading “Back home. Well, for a while…”
Last week for this house-sit
It is our Last week on this house-sit. We have loved the house at Mouronho, looking after Tan and meeting everyone here and on our travels. We must not forget the charming little town house in Coja too with its lovely plaza where we enjoyed many coffees and a few cold beers too. We hopeContinue reading “Last week for this house-sit”
A sick Netty, but more adventures
This week had a bit of a break, as Netty came down with one of those nasty forty-eight hour bugs. But, we are a bit ahead ourselves… We started the week by taking a trip to Oliveira do Hospital. We needed to go to the nearest branch of NovoBanco and it was situated in thatContinue reading “A sick Netty, but more adventures”
House-sit at Coja & Mouronho
Still not a great deal of progress on the house, so not a lot to report there. We spent the first couple of days back from the UK, sorting a few things out and catching up with friends. Then we were off on more house-sitting adventures… Two hours drive (stopping for a snack) is allContinue reading “House-sit at Coja & Mouronho”
Back to Portugal!
Hooray! We arrived back in Portugal. The journey from Edinburgh airport was pretty uneventful. It was pleasant to leave a grey, damp and 16oC Edinburgh and arrive two hours later to a very nice 24oC and sunny skies in Lisboa. It was quite a long day though, as we were up at 2am to getContinue reading “Back to Portugal!”
Kilmarnock time!
So, from leaving Worcester, we made our way eventually to Kilmarnock. This is where No.1 son and his partner and our grandson live. But before we tell you about that visit, we almost forgot to mention another little adventure. We managed to hire a car for a few days and got across the country toContinue reading “Kilmarnock time!”
