We are Annette & Wayne (Netty & Ronnie). We decided to re-evaluate what we wanted to do for our future and decided that work was the thing getting in our way to slowing down and spending more time visiting our friends and family and doing the things we enjoy doing. It is a bit of a life reset in all its guises! We are trying new things out, visiting places we have never been to before and hopefully meeting some really lovely people along the way!
We were both working and living a busy but unfulfilling life, so we decided to sell up, and move to Portugal and start a new life exploring new experiences and slowing down to really enjoy life to the full.
Being able to afford a rural home in beautiful surroundings doing the things we love doing without work getting in the way has always been a life goal. We could be near our friends, meet new friends, learn a new language, explore new countries, and explore our desires without having to fly, and still have the flexibility to return to the UK when it suited us, rather than being held to dates to conform with work committments.
It is scary, out of our comfort zone, but we knew it would be worth it in the end.
We might add that we are lucky to have the best friends anyone could wish for. True friends, that have helped us make the journey easier and taught us how to navigate some of the more challenging aspects of a life changing decision such as ours! – You know who you are and we will always remain eternally grateful and we love you dearly!

We chose Carpe Diem, latin for “seize the day”. Thats what it felt like when we both finally agreed that we had to make the leap of faith, and begin this journey.
