Never knew this place was here!

Ever set off doing something and ended up on a completely different tangent? Well, that happened to us yesterday.
We set off with two objectives: firstly to call in at the driving test centre to see if they could shed some light on why it’s taking so long to exchange our driving licenses, and secondly to get the car electrics problem looked at.

We failed at both. When we arrived at the test center the queues were horrendous and we thought we might waste half the day just waiting to see someone, so we drove on to the Audi garage. Again, due to the holiday season here they couldn’t see it straight away, but I managed to book it in to have the diagnostics done in a couple of weeks. As it went, the car had no issues at all during this day!

So we were just about to leave the garage, and decided to not waste the trip, but to head towards the coast. We then remembered a particular beach that our friends mentioned (when we met in the last post). So off we went. It’s called ‘Praia da Areia Branca’, and our friends mentioned there was a decent Indian restaurant there too. That’s something that is rare in these parts so was worth checking out.

It’s a nice beach and there are plenty of nice cafes and restaurants, and yes the Indian looks good with a surprisingly decent menu too. but as Netty had not long had breakfast we decided against an Indian and opted for just a snack. We will however return at some stage to check out the Maharani. The resort is not an old Portuguese village at all, in fact we saw no sign of an old part, and it looks like it has purely been developed for tourism.

So while we were taking our snack, Netty was looking for somewhere else to drive to on the way home. She does like gardens and saw a place on google maps that looked a bit odd. It was called ‘Bacalhôa Buhdda Eden’ but the photos looked intriguing, so we set off to check it out.

We weren’t disappointed. It is a wine producing Quinta, but a garden was built to house some amazing sculptures. If you want to know why, then check out their website.

There was too much to take in for just a single visit, so we will definitely be returning. Early July would be a great time whilst the flowers are in full bloom!

If you are wondering about the house build and how that’s progressing…

We are still waiting for them to ask for the engineering plans. Apparently you can’t submit them until they ask for them. Keep checking, we could have news soon.

Bye for now 🙂
