Life after quarantine

It has been a while since we shared an update, but we have no Wi-Fi and are reliant on mobile data.

Our return to the UK was not without incident. We had booked our day 2 and 8 COVID-19 tests to be delivered to our neighbors as we have a redirect for mail at our normal address, but we were obviously using our home address to quarantine. For some reason the Covid-19 test company we used did not use our specified delivery address (our neighbour), and chose to send the tests to our home address. And wouldn’t you know it… it got redirected to Netty’s sisters at the other side of the country. This happened, to both tests, even though we instructed them not to do this!
The consequence of this error was a delay in getting the results, which meant we had to basically extend the quarantine. The up-side was once it was all finished and both our negative tests were delivered, the test company refunded us the costs of one test to cover our costs to get them re-delivered to the the right address.

We did keep ourselves busy during this period though, organizing medical MOTs, vaccines, house and car maintenance appointments etc. We also managed to finish boxing up our final belongings and create an inventory for our removals company.

The weather was also treating us kindly and we managed to make the quarantine competitive! Wayne was the eventual garden quoits champion though!

Try as she might she couldn’t beat her husband!

Eventually both of our COVID-19 tests came back and as suspected we were both negative and therefore free to go about within the current rules and restrictions.

Most importantly for us it meant we could take advantage of the weather and get out to some walking in our local area and a bit further a field. We have now managed a couple of 10km plus walks around our village location as well as a trip to Cannock Chase for a bit of a longer distance walk of around 19km taking advantage of a particular nice days weather! (watch out for the video on our channel once we get some decent Wi-Fi!)

The downside to all this free time is that the credit card is taking a hit! We seem to have done a lot of shopping. Mind you, Netty and I have destroyed a few of our clothes whilst clearing and burning in Portugal, and Netty has lost a bit of weight and is in need of some new threads! Apparently I am just needy!

We just have a few more things to get done here, like getting the boiler serviced and some cosmetic work done on the car and hopefully we can get out a bit further to see the kids!

Have a great week everyone and stay safe!
